cattle move in herds

we cram into streets
racing each other to every red light of our lives
everyone wants to be the one
standing at the top of the pile of crumbs
king of all the slaves
my scars are prettier than yours
my clothes are a little less torn

we cram onto subways fighting to be the ones to sit
en masse
instead of stand
in the train’s car
during a 15 minute commute to boredom
or misery
in exchange for the harvest of our able bodies and minds
oh, the honor
of being paid the most to
be able to boast that
all day you can coast
and trip on the internet
or place a house sized casino site bet

we are so proud to be promoted to
HNIC
where we can preen on our towers of shame
and claim
that we are now permitted to spend another 10% of our time
now equally a full 40% of our lives
making some unseen entity richer
so mockingly we ridicule those who would step out of this tune
and march to a drummer that will bring them
less money and more freedom
we are so proud to wonder
what kind of fool wants to work for themselves
when with a little mis-education
you can be a wage slave
or maybe one day
an overseer
we are so proud to be fools
although we know in our hearts
that cattle moves in herds.

i dont want to go where everyone goes on weekends into clubs letting someone i have never met rub his groin on me
i dont want to go where everyone goes to the slam and insult each other’s ability to create beauty and compete in the American way saying oh, he is better than she, them are better than we
i dont want to go where everyone goes to work a second job at night when i can work for me instead for an us for the people
i dont want to go where everyone goes

cattle move in herds
humans were not meant to
we are each a miracle of creation
created to manifest more
when did we get caught up in the mean machine
living only for green
money which gets mis-spent by someone used to survival alone
money which is not saved for retirement and leaves us eating dog food
to die alone
money which has no value in the spiritual realm cuz when you leave your fate is to
go alone.
